Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, or “talk therapy” helps in a variety of ways. Depending on what we have been through in our lives, we often end up feeling any combination of alone, distrustful, not good enough, overwhelmed, angry, depressed, anxious, and more. We may have ways of coping that aren’t necessarily that healthy, or we may feel like we are unable to cope. We may find relationships confusing, difficult, unfulfilling or painful. We may feel lost, we may have difficulties at work.

Talking with a caring professional helps you feel like you are no longer alone on this confusing and difficult journey. A good therapist helps you understand why you react, feel, and think the way you do, can offer tools to help heal past trauma and help you develop more helpful coping strategies. By the end of therapy, people tend to feel like they understand themselves more, care for themselves more, are able to set healthier boundaries for themselves, make decisions that they couldn’t previously, and feel safer and more able to face the ups and downs of life.

Depending on what an individual’s needs are, I draw on a combination of Compassion Focused Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy along with the Flash Technique, and Internal Family Systems Therapy to best support clients as they take this intriguing journey of self-discovery.
